Several deserted industrial areas in Kasimov were selected for MARKHI students’ graduation projects. The projects were in line with the city centre revitalisation plan.

The fur factory Runo is located to the south-east, on the edge of Kasimov with long factory buildings sitting on natural terraces of the Oka river. The production was stopped in 2014, and it was considered unviable to overhaul the factory.

In Kasimov of today the industrial area has changed its function. It is now open to public as factory buildings are being replaced with accommodation and communal spaces.

In order to preserve the river-side outline of the town with no changes made to the height of the built-up area, it was proposed to demolish some factory buildings and allocate the area for individual house construction. The remaining buildings are accommodated for social needs.

The main building, was stripped to its reinforced concrete frame and then transformed into a communal greenhouse.
