Tver region
Area: 60 m2
Architect: Maria Serova
Engineer: Nikolay Serov
The plot of land with the guesthouse is located in Tver region in a little settlement surrounded by the forest. The house is designed as a small retreat for a family or a couple of guests, but is equipped with all the mod cons for sustainable living.
In terms of its shape, the one-storey building resembles a half-open matchbox. The frame of the house comprises a system of wooden long-span trusses, nine metres in length. A three-metre cantilever shields the porch from rain and snow. A minimalist form, achieved due to its design, is a reference to a matchbox, a true necessity in the wilderness.
